Standard 3: plan for and IMPLEMENT effective teaching and learningPlan, structure and sequence learning programsFocus area 3.2.1 - Plan lesson sequences using knowledge of student learning, content and effective teaching strategies
Throughout my time as a student teacher, I have become to realise how important it is to consider/know: - how our students learn -what content is going to be taught and how - what teaching strategies are going to best suit not only the class and teacher, but also the content that is being delivered When creating lesson sequences, I think it is important to consider the teaching strategies that will be used. Throughout the units of work that are displayed below, the teaching and learning strategies that have been implemented include the use of teacher clarity when giving instructions, rich classroom discussion focused on the topic at hand, using positive and constructive feedback on work being completed, and using formative assessment throughout the units of work to assess how students are progressing (Alber, 2015). Whilst completing university practicums at Greystanes Public School, and Boree Creek Public School, and completing university assignments, I was required to create and implement effective learning and teaching sequences based on the new NSW Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum. Attached are two units of work that I have created for English, and PDHPE (based on NSW syllabus). These two units of work incorporate various teaching and learning strategies as well as the inclusion of ICT.
