standard 2: know the content and how to teach it
Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
Focus area 2.6.1 - Implement teaching strategies for using ICT to expand curriculum learning opportunities for students.
Throughout my four years of university, I have studied both the new and old syllabus documents, and know the content that needs to be taught. from studying these documents, I have become familiar with knowing what is required to be taught to students in each stage level, along with strategies and ways to explore concepts with students to make lesson engaging and relate to the students interests/hobbies.
Whilst completing university practicums and assignments, I have developed units of work, lesson plans and resources that can be used throughout various key learning areas. Whilst compiling these documents and resources, I was able to identifying key strategies to use when teaching specific classes, which enable be to ensure that all learners were engaged. The integration of ICT into the classroom and various activities, provides students the opportunity to develop their skills in using ICT resources, to become confident and competent users of ICT (Integrating ICT capability, 2012).
I have developed and integrated various ICT resources to expand curriculum learning opportunities for students, and in-turn engage all students in the task that has been set. The use of ICT has ranged from ways of presenting information, to ways of instructing and engaging students.
Please find attached a lesson plan which incorporates the use of ICT to present information, and a link to a website which was developed to engage and instruct students through a number of activities linked to a concept studied in stage 3 HSIE.
